Herbal medicine

Herbal medicine, sometimes known as botanical medicine or phytotherapy, is the use of plants to treat disease or disorder, or to enhance health and wellbeing.

Herbal remedies may come from any or all parts of the plant - commonly the leaf, flower, stem, seed, root, fruit or bark of the plant are used.  The extract is developed using the whole plant part, rather than isolating a particular constituent, creating a holistic, complete and balanced medicine.

Herbal medicine aims to return the body to a state of natural balance, so that it can heal itself. A vast variety of herbal medicines are available, and different herbs act on different organs, systems, and pathways within the body.

Herbalism supports holistic treatment, with prevention of disease as important as symptomatic treatment of existing conditions.

Hormone dysregulation, stress and anxiety, allergic conditions, skin conditions such as eczema and acne, poor detoxification and elimination, metabolic conditions, autoimmune disorders, fatigue and insomnia and colds and flu are just some of a range of conditions that can benefit from the skilful prescription of quality herbal medicines.

Herbal medicines are powerful and can act on the same biological pathways as pharmaceutical medications. They may interact with medications and should always be taken under the expert supervision of a qualified herbal medicine practitioner.

At Naturae Health, all herbal medicines are prescribed following a comprehensive consultation with a Naturopath. Each prescription is created to suit the individual requirements of the client and dispensed either from our in clinic dispensary or on occasion from a larger, online naturopathic pharmacy and delivered to your door.
